The spectrum will be valid for 20 years
The previous auction was held in 2015 and now the spectrum is being auctioned again after five years. The biggest feature of this auction is that the spectrum acquired in it will be valid for 20 years. It has made an initial Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs 13,475 crore to private sector telecom companies. These include Reliance Jio Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
5G is not included in this auction
The current spectrum auction does not include the 5G spectrum auction. It will be auctioned later. A total of 7 frequency bands are being auctioned this time out of which 700MHz, 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz and 2500MHz bands are being auctioned. The company that succeeds in bidding will get the facility to pay through EME.
